November painting update: Epic Armageddon

For the month of November, I am taking a break from the Eldar Revenant Titan, for which all the airbrush work is basically done, to finish painting my Epic Space Wolf army. This army was started at least 10 years ago and I am finally getting around to finishing it thanks for the Epic Day. This is a fan held event in France which is taking place on Dec 6th. The idea is to play Epic with some special scenarios during that day. More information (in French) here.

As you can see, the change in scale is rather drastic and is also quite refreshing...

An awesome game from Fantasy Flight

Just bought an awesome game from Fantasy Flight Games:

Blood Bowl Team Manager the Card Game. It is great fun, a lot of replayability. If you are familiar with the fluff and the Blood Bowl game, you'll get the right intuitions and learn the game really fast. I haven't tried it yet with non gamers, we'll see how it is received by the average Catan players not immersed in the Old World universe...

Now off to buy the Sudden Death expansion... :)

Product Review: Paint Rack Miniaturicum

This post is a quick review of a fantastic product that I heard about thanks to the guys at Tale of Painters Blog.

This paint rack from Miniaturicum can contains a lot of paint pots of all types (GW, Reaper, Vallejo, etc).

As you can see, this rack is suited best for GW type of pots but can also work for dripper bottles, pots of glues, etc. This in my opinion is the greatest advantage of not having specific holes designed for each pot. This type of rack is a lot more versatile than other ones than can be found on the market (and also very cheap!)

The rack comes in separate parts (and an assembly guide) and the assembly is very easy. You can even choose not to glue the pieces if you'd like (that is what I've done for the moment):

Hobbying while on travel: Epic Space Marine Painting

And.... I'm back! After an overseas move and the start of a new job, I finally have time to get back to hobbying again.

I am currently on several business trips and have found the way to keep up with miniature painting while not at home and wanted to share that.

The solution for me is the Battlefoam Pack Mini !

This small bag fits perfectly in a suitcase and can be filled with paints and minis (although you need to check your bag if you travel by plane or put the paint pots in a transparent ziplock bag). This the paint pots I put in my bag for a weeklong workshop:

The paint brushes are slided into one of the Pack Mini's pocket and minis are put in the remaining spots. I also brought a small rag inserted in the pack mini.

At the hotel, this is the paint station I have set up:

An example of all the Epic 40K minis that can fit in the 11 remaining spots in the pack mini:

And yes... I am getting back into Epic... 8 years later ! Got hooked again after a great (re) introduction game... Am painting my Space Wolves again and can't wait to field them...

Unboxing: Kraan Tain of Baalor - BaneLords Miniatures

Here is my latest acquisition to represent a Lord of Chaos on juggernaut or steed for Fantasy from the BaneLord range:

Kraan the Tain of Baalor riding a fuzzy bear

I ordered the mini direct from Maelstrom games (UK), service and shipping were fast (the price is also reasonable for what it is).

The mini comes in a big blister type package:
 A little fluff:
 The teddy bear:
Other side of the teddy bear:
The head and paws of the bear:

Kraan as a rider and on foot:
Close up on the rider (detail is really good):
 This dude is really tall!
Armour plates and spikes for the bear:
 Shields and weapons for Kraan:
My impressions:

-The detail level is excellent
-Quite a few warped thin pieces that I will have to be very careful not to break when straightening
-Mold lines are minimal although some are placed in difficult places (fur of the bear)
-I hope Kraan on foot doesn't look disproportionate compared to the Chaos Warriors

Overall: I like and recommend for a little change of style!

Club Logo Attempt 2

So, I have incorporated a few of the comments I received. My main concern is that it is not very high res. Any suggestions?
